Every generation of Westminster has been shaped by the faithfulness of those who came before—by people who invested boldly so that ministry could flourish long after them. Because of their vision, we worship in a beautiful sanctuary, gather in a vibrant fellowship hall, learn and serve in spaces designed for connection, and welcome our neighbors onto a campus alive with purpose. 

Now, we find ourselves standing at a familiar and faithful crossroads. 

We are drinking deeply from wells we did not dig. 

And the question before us is clear: 

Will we deepen our wells for those who are coming next?

WHY NOW?

The Connect, Serve, Grow Task Force affirmed what many already feel: Westminster is healthy, vibrant, and growing—but our facilities and infrastructure must catch up with our ministry. 

Our campus is fully alive—used daily by children, youth, adults, staff, and community partners. Offices are full. Classrooms are stretched. Key gathering spaces are outdated. But some of our most meaningful moments—funerals, weddings, prayer, and reflection—long for spaces designed for intimacy and reverence. 

Acting now, we will extend hospitality and deepen connection with those who have already sought out community and our ministries. And we will continue to be a beacon for those who are still searching for a place to worship, serve and belong. 

FROM BEN’S DESK:

In the spring of 2024, the Connect, Serve, Grow Task Force began their long-range strategic planning work. You will recall that they conducted a congregational survey, met with numerous lay leaders and staff, and made their report to the Session in the spring of 2025.

One of their recommendations was that Westminster conduct a facilities assessment. Craig Gaulden Davis (CGD) was hired to do so, and CGD made its report to the Session in September, 2025. While we have a wonderful facility that serves our congregation and neighbors well, it is also showing its age in particular places. CGD recommended both new construction and renovation to meet the needs of our growing congregation and surrounding community.

In November, 2025, the Session contracted with Armstrong McGuire from Raleigh, NC to help us conduct a capital campaign feasibility assessment. A Campaign Feasibility Committee, pictured here, was approved by the Session in December.

In the coming weeks, the Campaign Feasibility Committee will host opportunities for you to hear more about the proposed new construction and renovations. We will publicize those gatherings soon, and we hope that you will be able to attend one of the gatherings to learn more for yourself.

This is an exciting time to be a part of Westminster! It is a joy to serve as your Pastor at this moment in Westminster’s history. I look forward to seeing the ways that God will be at work in the life of our church in the months ahead.
